I also like the interaction with non human characters such as horses and spirits. I can't wait to see what happens and to learn more about them. There is a cast of side characters who are interesting and have parts of their back stories brought out. He explores the world with the wonder of a childs heart which leads to some wonderful small moments.

He's a strong character who makes mistakes and can admit and learn from them. The MC for reasons noted in the story has no understanding of the world around him but he's not an idiot. I highly suggest you read this book.Ĭharacters- I really enjoy the cast a great deal. This has been almost completely fixed in the version I read. You may see some mention of editing issues. I actually used the highlight and bookmark function of my kindle to revisit these scenes. The author excels at small moments that make you smile. There are so many endearing moments in this novel. This is a pretty large book for this genre and with that comes a good bit of world and character building. I found myself pacing and reading nonstop. I preface this with that because I loved this novel and dont want you to think this was a biased review. Reader beware! However I was not ashamed to let my mother read this book. It should also be known that my 70 year old, retired elementary school librarian mother, thought there was an excessive amount of strong language in this book. The question is how? Do the people around him value him for who he is or merely for what he represents? The world holds endless possibilities, only time will tell what the future holds for the boy.
